Here’s our petition to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel requesting that he slow down the Lincoln Yards TIF plan to allow more vetting and more public transparency. Read it, sign it and make your voice heard at the next two meetings on Lincoln Yards: the Joint Review Board is scheduled to meet Friday January 11, 2019, at 10 a.m. in Room 1003A (10th Floor City Hall), and the Community Development Commission is scheduled to meet Tuesday February 19, 2019.

Mayor Emanuel:

The proposed Cortland/Chicago River TIF District – and the related Lincoln Yards development plan – do not represent equitable, balanced development.  The planning process has not been transparent, comprehensive, or responsive, and it has not challenged the developers to show what they could build without $800 million in public TIF funds.  Fast-tracking this TIF for approval just before you step down is not accountable decision-making.  I urge you to defer any further decisions on the TIF and Lincoln Yards until a new Mayor and City Council take office.
