Here’s our petition to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel requesting that he slow down the Lincoln Yards zoning TIF plan to allow more vetting and more public transparency. Read it, sign it and make your voice heard at the next city Zoning Committee meeting, scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019, at City Hall, 121 North LaSalle St.

Mayor Emanuel:

The proposed Cortland/Chicago River TIF District – and the related Lincoln Yards development plan – do not represent equitable, balanced development.  The planning process has not been transparent, comprehensive, or responsive, and it has not challenged the developers to show what they could build without $1.3 billion in public TIF funds.  Fast-tracking this TIF for approval just before you step down is not accountable decision-making.  I urge you to defer any further decisions on the zoning, TIF, and Lincoln Yards until a new Mayor and City Council take office.
